Bridge

Bridge construction
using stone and blocks are some of the oldest construction methods
available. The simple supported bridge is fastened to the Earth
on either side and an arch spans across from one end to another.
The load on the path or road is transferred outward towards the
base of the arch. Abutments transfer the stresses into the bedrock
of the Earth. The spandrel is the part of the bridge that exists
between the road to the arch.
